Taking Down The Warren

They were all in positions, as far as he could tell and he gazed at his manipulator that had been enhanced with the tracking devices.  Calling up the display, which hovered like a hologram over his wrist with an areal view of the warehouse and the surrounding areas, Jack counted dots.  White dots for the werewolves, forty-three of them now.  The ones from around the city had returned this afternoon to sleep away the daylight hours.  Light green for the human operatives.  Deep yellow-gold for the Jacks because of what they were infused with.  Peter, Kate and Liz were a soft blue, mutated humans.  Red and Alisa didn't show up at all because of what they happened to be.

"Role call everyone.  Team Alpha at the rear entrance.  Jack, Gadget, Gwen, all here.  Team Beta?"  They were at the front entrance, the first to go in.  He listened for New York Jack, his wife, and Kate to call out.  Good.  "Team Gamma?"  They were also at the front.  The other Jack from New York, Rose Tyler, Red and Liz Sherman.  Again, he waited for the all clear.  They were damage control, defense.  "Team Delta?"  His other Jack, Peter Petrelli and Renee, up on the roof.  Their job was strictly support, to clean out the top of the warehouse, to back up the Rift team or extract damaged agents.

When the all clear was sounded, he turned back to those in the SUV, running intelligence from the Hubs.  Both Iantos, Jackie and Owen for triage.  Just in case.

"All right folks.  Beta and Gamma, it's your show."

Jack and Alisa were just getting back to their feet, Jack grabs hold Alisa's arm to drag her towards a pillar. He's limping, the pair are still injured.

He wraps himself around it, his arm still heavily bleeding, and he goes to secure both himself along with Alis to the pillar to keep both from getting sucked through.

The rest of the wolves getting sucked in will be a godsend.

Jack was struggling to hold on, his arm was aching and the blood was drying, sticking to him. He grit his teeth and held on, shoving his gun into his waistband and used both arms now. He was losing blood and he knew he was going to die again. Dying slow was the worst. He rested his forehead to the pillar. "Shutshutshutshutshut," he muttered. He knew if he died before it shut, he'd be lost to it. But this was a battle he was losing. I hate dogs, he thought, resting his forehead against the pillar, closing his eyes.

Gadget had been hit by the bullet. Ignoring it she scrambled to the pillar dragging her boss along with her hoping she'd make it.

Finding she wasn't able to she reached into her bag throwing the grappling hook she carried, wrapping it around her wrist. She held Jack's jacket knowing that it was going to hurt like hell.

If he'd known that, he would feel immensely guilty. He was counting, out loud, backwards from 30. "Fifteen," he said, his voice getting a little slower as the wolves were being sucked in. He was dying, slowly and he closed his eyes. "Fourteen," he muttered. "Hurry up, dammit, hurry up ... " he sighed. He had managed to get one of his braces off, snapping it and leaving the other hanging. He wrapped them around his wrists, his hands and tied them as tight as he could manage this way. He inhaled, taking a shuttering breath. "Thirt -- " and he lost consciousness again, his body giving a shake and dying.
