The Unhappy "Scolding" of Luke Campbell
Jun. 9th, 2010 08:18 pmAfter doing some pretty stupid stuff like fighting with a Chinese take out kid, telling his girlfriend all about Torchwood, and doing experiments on Canary Ianto, 200yr Jack lays down the law with threats of retconning Luke Campbell into a vegetable or shooting him in the head.
Torchwood: London 101
May. 29th, 2010 05:45 pmWelcome to Torchwood: London
INTRODUCTIONMy name is Captain Jack Harkness, I am the leader of the new Hub in London. Working in conjunction with an alternate version of myself in New York, Torchwood has once again been called forth to protect the world from the unforeseeable, the unseen, and the dangerous. In the Broken Universe, where multiple realities collide each day, we alone are all that stands in the way of twenty-first century humanity being utterly decimated by forces they are best left never knowing about.
BROKEN VERSE
Brokenverse is a multifandom, Doctor Who and Torchwood based universe primarily played on

Brokenverse came about by merging Earths from many alternate dimensions. As such, there are several copies of most DW/TW canon characters, most of whom are AU. Plots include kidnapping, rescue missions, assassinations, werewolf infestations, travel to other worlds, an attempt to fix the breaks that allow alternate dimension travel, ETC. For all intents and purposes, once a character has entered Brokenverse, they are free to move through rips and rifts in time and space to return to their own universe at will. For a better idea of what's going on, the Broken Doctor keeps a detailed report of many things going on in the Brokenverse.
TORCHWOOD: LONDON HUB
Though it looks like just an ordinary block of flats in a posh brownstone complex with ground floor retail, accessing the lower elevators brings agents to the real heart of the Hub: a state of the art, alien artifact integrated complex that allows agents to monitor, research and combat threats to humanity. All agents are provided with spacious and secure accommodations. There is a parking garage at the ground level. A full sized gym and a helicopter hangar, as well as Jack's private suite, occupy the top floor.
Entry to the Hub and the flats take place in a secret back room of the coffee shop. Agents are also able to enter the flat component ONLY of the building through an awning entrance by the garage for guests. Ground floor retail shops also include a pharmacy, a grocery store, clothing boutiques, and two restaurants.
Torchwood: London is nothing like Torchwood One but is an extension of the old, now destroyed in the main Brokenverse timeline, Cardiff Hub.
TORCHWOOD AGENTS
All Torchwood agents must submit to testing prior to joining the team. Upon acceptance, all agents will be tagged with GPS locator chips. Though somewhat invasive of privacy, these chips are used to locate agents on field missions or in case of kidnappings. Secrecy is of the utmost importance. While most of the world knows of Torchwood's existence by now, the goings on of the agency is not for open discussion. The Hub is also not a place for parties and special gatherings. All agents are issued codes to access the Hub's elevator and the computer system.
Should an agent ever decide to retire or leave Torchwood, Compound B67 (or Retcon), will be administered. The agent will have no idea of his or her involvement in Torchwood after that. All ties with the agent will be cut. Should an agent die while still employed by Torchwood: London, their worldly possessions will be placed in the secure vault minus personal and non-sensitive artifacts that have been willed to friends and family.
RECRUITMENT
Please remember that you do not find Torchwood. Torchwood finds you. As such, it is usually better for an existing agent to approach you, otherwise you might find yourself retconned, no further questions asked!
Torchwood agents are, by nature, special individuals. They excel in one or more fields of science, technology, combat weaponry, research, etc or they have natural/magical/etc augmentations to themselves that allow them to perform special tasks inside the agency. Every member of the Torchwood team is expected to be combat capable, from the lowly tea boy and secretary to the obnoxious, cluttering doctor.
Examples of skill sets valued by Torchwood include: reverse engineering, combat tactician, strategic planning, file/tech hacking, detective skills, ability to speak multiple languages, mind reading, and most importantly: The ability to keep a secret.
Examples of jobs: field agents, hackers, doctors, alien research scientist for technology/biology/culture, hazard material clean up crew, engineers, baristas for the coffee shop!
